UNMUTED’s 2nd Birthday Party

Updated: Nov 10, 2021

UNMUTED is a co-created and community directed social and peer support network in Birmingham for people of colour who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer or Intersex (LGBTQI).

We let our first year of existence slip by quietly but year 2 we're ready to celebrate and raise funds for our future work!

This event is OPEN TO ALL, brings your friends, partners and family.

Join us for an evening of films, food, music and very special voguing workshop by the one and only Jay Jay Revlon UK leader of House of Revlon, Father of Kiki House of Tea.

Entry: Pay what you can (£5 suggested Donation)

6pm - 7pm: CineQ will programme an hour of awesome short queer films. A sober, family friendly space.

7.30pm: Food (Albert Smith will be serving delicious traditional South African Vetkoek all evening), chill and find out more about UNMUTED.

8.00pm: MC and DJ Jay Jay Revlon co-founder of English Breakfast London and father of the Kiki House of Tea, UK leader of House of Revlon, leads a Vogue Fem workshop to warm you up to party!

9.00pm - Late: Party and Jam with us with a live DJ and jam session, bring your instruments if you would like to vibe with other musicians.

UNMUTED and The Edge will be operating under a safe-space policy on the night, there will be a 'zero tolerance' attitude to any displays of racist and bigoted behaviour.

The space is physically accessible for those in wheelchairs, please get in touch if you have any additional needs/requirements.

There is a quieter space available upstairs (unfortunately this is not lift accessible).

What we're raising money for:

Emergency Expenses

  • Those a part of UNMUTED's network are often living in vulnerable situations which can lead to homelessness and/or the need for emergency support (hotel stays, legal fees, travel and food expenses).

  • Support for Young People

  • BAME young people who are exploring their sexual identity often do not feel safe / comfortable enough to attend groups and services in the same way that other groups of young people do.

  • We would like to work towards developing an online support platform.

  • Volunteer and Meet Up Expenses

UNMUTED is organised by a small group of volunteers, funding will support in travel and access needs expenses.
